A DISRUPTIVE MOMENT

One of the first things I do in the morning, Monday – Friday, is to listen to Dr. David Jeremiah. His daily messages are a great inspiration and source of knowledge; his messages ground me in truth and reality.

This week he has started a new series and his message yesterday and today is entitled “A Bend in the Road.” In it he defines and discusses “disruptive moments” in our lives. As Dr. Jeremiah describes it, a disruptive momentis an unanticipated event, one we would have chosen to avoid if possible. A disruptive event is like a bend in the road where we cannot see what is coming next.

Currently with the Coronavirus upon us, I would venture to say that most, if not all of us, has and are experiencing disruptive moments. During this very challenging time we must choose how to respond to the circumstances. We can see ourselves as victims and go down a path of negativity, despair, depression, and destruction, or we can become victors and choose to make positive changes in our lives in response to the circumstances.

As Dr. Jeremiah says, our question should not be “why me” or “why now,” but rather “what can I learn from this experience.” As my mentor John C. Maxwell says, “Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.”

Below I have shared some additional quotes from my book, PROJECT CAREER QUEST: Navigating the Journey to New Opportunities Waiting. I hope they will lift you up and inspire you to respond to this disruptive moment in a way that propels you forward with positive lessons and life altering changes.

“Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional.” ~Roger Crawford

“Our attitude can give us an uncommonly positive perspective.” ~John C. Maxwell

“Our greatest freedom is the freedom to choose our attitude. ~Victor Frankl

“Every situation comes bearing a gift.” ~Marianne Williamson

“When life kicks you, let it kick you forward.” ~Kay Yow
